CogX is the world’s largest AI festival with over 15,000 people in attendance from the highest levels of business, government, industry and research. CogX is described as the Davos of technology, with speakers that include members of the UK government, CEOs of banks and technology companies and leading academics from around the world. CognitionX, the company behind CogX, wanted a high quality website to match the event’s high quality value proposition. The website is the shopfront, showcasing what is on offer and selling (very expensive) tickets. It need to feel premium.
Contra were commissioned to redesign the site. We began with a brief consultation period to understand the audience and their needs. CogX’s site was evolving in the run up to the 2019 event and so requirements were changing weekly. One key requirement was to sync speaker and programme information into the website from a 3rd party database that was being used to power the event’s mobile app. With over 500 speakers, the UX on this data was also crucial. We also needed to integrate with the selected ticketing system and ensure that calls to action were clear.
We produced a forward thinking design that incorporates both the CogX brand and also modern design trends, using subtle animations and interactivity. The look and feel now match the status of the event and highlight the amazing offer of the event. Data is synced from the app database every 15 mins, meaning the speakers and programme are always up to date (without the need to update in two places). We also applied conversion rate optimisation techniques to the design and measure these with Hotjar behavioural analysis.
The site is hosted on AWS, (managed by us), which is lightening fast and very secure, both of which are essential given the high volume transactional nature of the website.
