So when Queens’ College wanted to update their existing website, they approached Contra. The College’s large and diverse community is committed to encouraging students to pursue their interests and achieve their full potential.
Queens’ has been in the heart of Cambridge for more than five centuries. Today it supports a thriving academic community of undergraduates, graduates and academics. The College wanted their new site to reflect its key values and principles.
Also, other sites within the University were being updated, so it was important for Queens’ to take this step, too.
The website needed to engage viewers, forming an inviting space where they could find out and read various information about Queens’. Contra led the project with our consultation phase, so that both Queens’ and Contra could clarify what the key requirements and success-points were. One of the challenging areas of the project was the fact there were so many stakeholders involved with the College. Contra worked openly and collaboratively with all of them, aligning needs along the way.
This project was the first in a series of planned phases for improving the site. This initial project focused on redesigning and restructuring the site. Contra ensured the new site was designed as a foundation, working as a platform which is ready to grow and develop. The new site was also built in Drupal (a University of Cambridge favourite), which allowed for content to be easily manageable.
The website successfully achieved the aims set by Queens’ College. The site operates effectively as an excellent marketing tool, that is maintained with ease by the internal team at the University. Queens’ are continuing the working relationship with Contra and together, we are currently developing additional elements for the site.
